Cambodia's University of Battambang (pictured) begins the first nuclear engineering course, the governor of Battambang province said Friday.
Prach Chan, the governor of Battambang province, told Xinhua on Friday that the university has established the faculty of nuclear engineering with the technical and equipment support from South Korea.
"We have shortage of energy, which the key element to develop the nation, so the faculty of nuclear engineering training will be generated human resources in this field."
"This is the first time that Cambodia has the nuclear engineering course with 40 students participating," he said, adding that the study equipment in equivalent to 500,000 U.S. dollars for the four-year nuclear course financed by South Korea.
Battambang, the second largest city, is about 300 km northwest of capital Phnom Penh.
