Three men arrested and fourth on the run for the murder of a Khmer man in Greater Toronto Area (Canada)

Warrant issued for fourth man in Markham murder

Police have issued a warrant for the fourth man wanted in a murder last weekend in Markham.
Sinhem Srun, 32, is wanted in connection with the death of Vandin Svay. He is of Cambodian decent, five feet, four inches and 160 pounds with a shaved head and brown eyes. He is also known as Mao.

Three other suspects who surrendered to police have been charged with first-degree murder.
Mr. Srun is “considered armed and dangerous,” said York Regional Police Det. Chris Reid.
Vandin Svay, 28, was stabbed Oct. 16, at the New Century Plaza, at 398 Ferrier St., just north of Steeles Avenue East, west of Warden Avenue. He died shortly before midnight.
A 24-year-old Newmarket man was also injured in the melee, which erupted during a Cambodian-Canadian community event.
The suspects were identified through video surveillance, Sgt. Gary Phillips said.
The plaza houses a variety of businesses, including restaurants, an off-track betting shop, opticians, a wellness centre and a book store.
Mr. Savay is York’s fifth homicide victim of the year.

Three men charged in Markham murder

Three Toronto residents have been charged with murder in the death of Newmarket's Vandin Svay.
Two of the three surrendered at the Richmond Hill police station yesterday after contacting York police investigators earlier in the day.
Another man surrender today, police said.
A fourth suspect remained at large.
Mr. Svay’s funeral was Friday in Newmarket.
He was stabbed to death during a fight, just before midnight, at the New Century Plaza at 398 Ferrier St., just north of Steeles Avenue East and west of Warden Avenue, in Markham Oct. 16 during a Cambodian-Canadian community event.
Another Newmarket man, 24, injured in the incident, remained hospitalized in stable condition Friday morning, police said.
That man and Mr. Svay knew each other, but did not attack one another, homicide Det.-Sgt. Larry Wilson said.
Meng Ly Lim, 28, Cho Chea, 24, and Veasna Sam, 30, all of Toronto are charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Police continued appealing to anyone who may have any information about what took place the night Mr. Svay was stabbed.

Those men deserve to be behind bars for the rest of their lives. They don't deserve to see the light of day. That fourth man can only hide for so long...
