The government said it will inaugurate the 33-million dollars, newly-constructed Prime Minister's Office (pictured) next week.

Mr. Phay Siphan, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said on Wednesday 13th that this is the first time that Cambodia has a Prime Minister's Office and it will be called "Vimean Santepheap" (House of Peace) which will be used as a prime ministerial office and offices for prime ministerial staff. He said the two buldings will also be used to house international dignitaries and guests of the Cambodian government who come to attend international conference in Cambodia.

According to the Cambodia Daily, these new buildings were commissioned by Prime Minister Hun Sen after he was not happy with the Chinese-funded Headquarter of the Council of Ministers that was completed last year.

Mr. Yim Sovan, spokesman for the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, said the government should not waste public money while the people are still living in poverty and facing hunger.
