CCHR - Rupert Abbott's resignation - new contact details

Dear all

I am emailing to inform you that Rupert Abbott has left his position as Development Director at the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) to take up a position with the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT).

During his two years with CCHR, Rupert has worked tirelessly for the cause of human rights in Cambodia and has been instrumental during a critical period of growth and restructuring of the organisation. During this short time, CCHR has initiated a number of new and exciting projects including the Cambodian Trial Monitoring Project, the Human Rights Network and Capacity Building Initiative, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Rights Project, and the Business and Human Rights Project. I am eternally grateful to Rupert for his commitment, energy and insight; he has been an integral and part of the CCHR team and a real asset to the cause of the development and democratization of Cambodia.

In his new role with UNAKRT, Rupert will work in the Defence Support Section at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). In this position, Rupert will undertake a number of tasks including helping to manage the legal aid scheme, providing some legal support to defence teams, and taking a lead on legacy and outreach programming. I am very pleased that in this new role, Rupert can continue his work in the furtherance of human rights and strengthening of rule of law in Cambodia. I would like to take this opportunity to
thank Rupert on behalf of myself and everyone at CCHR, and to wish him the very best in his new endeavour. With his intelligence and passion, I’m sure he will be a great success at the ECCC and an invaluable addition to the DSS.

Thank you and kind regards,

OU Virak
