Cambodian border officials said that 11 Thai officials were chased out of Cambodia after they had illegally entered Cambodian territory at Poipet town to film and survey the borderline without permission from Cambodian officials.

Brig-Gen. Dy Phen, chief of Cambodian-Thai Border Relations Office based at Poipet, said that on Sunday 17th, 11 Thai officials had illegally crossed the Poipet Border Checkpoint at 9:30 a.m and entered about 20-30 metres deep into Cambodian territory and started filming, reading maps and inspecting border posts without informing Cambodian authority about what they were doing. After they were confronted by Cambodian officials they said they came to film the flood waters that had inundated the town for the last few days. The general said that he ordered those Thai officials to return back to Thai territory immediately, saying that if they want to film the floodwaters they must do it inside Thai territory.

Mr. Try Narin, Governor of Poipet town, said those Thai officials had illegally entered Cambodian territory with ill-intentions, so they were chased out.

Gen. Dy Phen said he had warned them that they will be detained if they illegally re-enter Cambodian territory again.
