A Cambodian military source said that a group of Thai soldiers had staged a 30-minute military drill near Ta Krabey temple at 11 a.m Monday morning about 1.5 kilometres northeast of Ta Krabey temple in Oddar Meanchey province by firing about 20 rounds of live M-79 and B-60 rockets.
The same source said the Thai military drill was staged inside Thai territory in Surin province and the rockets did not land on Cambodian soil, but the Cambodian border troops based at Ta krabey temple were ordered to be on high alert.
The same source said the troops who participated in the drill were new troops based in Surin who had just completed their military training.
Mr. Neak Vong, Cambodian commander of 42nd Ground Battalion based at Ta Krabey temple, refused to comment when reached by telephone by saying that he is in busy. However, a Cambodian military source based at the nearby Ta Moan temple, said there was a Thai military drill at Ta Krabey temple but the Thai commander of Thai Military Region Two, Gen. Wiwalit had already informed the Cambodian side since 23rd August.
According to DAP News, the Thai military drill was staged at the same as when the Cambodian military conducted its drill in Oddar Meanchey's Tropeang Prasat district with the participation of 144 soldiers by using and firing live 37mm and 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns.
