Prime Minister Hun Sen will lead a high-powered delegation to the Asean-U.S Summit in New York to be chaired by President Barack Obama on 24th September. According to a Foreign Ministry press release on Wednesday 15th September, Mr. Hun Sen will lead a delegation, which include Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and other senior ministers, to attend the summit in New York at the invitation of President Obama where he will also attend the U.N General Assembly also.
Mr. Hun Sen is also scheduled to hold talks with Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva to discuss about the current Khmer-Thai border disputes.
Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, said the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will arrive in New York on 22nd September to be in time for the UN General Assembly.
According to the Jakarta Globe, the Asean-U.S Summit is in serious doubt after Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that he is unable to attend the summit because of domestic pre-occupation.
