A floating market on the Tonle Sap Lake in Kampong Luong commune, Krakor district in Pursat province has become a tourist attraction.

Tourist will enjoy the market activities of vendors selling fresh food, like vegetable, cooking recipes, BBQ chicken and grilled fresh fish on floating boats.

Mr. Tim Sarin, Governor of Krakor district, said there are 1300 families living on the floating village of Phum Ti Buon, comprising of 900 Cambodian families and 400 Vietnamese families. He said there 11 communes comprising 101 villages in Krakor district, but Kampong Luong village has become a tourist attraction because of its floating village and floating markets. He said during the Pchum Ben festivity in around October, thousands of revellers have travelled in hundreds of boats to celebrate in the floating Kampong Luong Pagoda. These sorts of marine activities have caused environmental concerns where environmentalists said that the river, mangrove trees and marine life have been significantly affected and destroyed.
