Mr. Qin Yu An, trade advisor to the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh, said two-way trades between Cambodia and China had reached $627 million in the first six months of 2010, a 37.7% increase over the same period of last year, reports everyday.com.

Speaking during a press conference on the morning of Friday, 27th August, Mr. Qin said that Cambodia, as a member of Asean, had reaped the economic benefits from the China-Asean Free Trade Agreement. He forecast that, with the speed of current growth in trades between the two countries, the two-way trades between China and Cambodia will surpass the rate of growth in the years before the world was hit with a financial crisis.

Mr. Qin said Cambodia's export to China had increased by 108.7% from the same period of last year. This would means that Cambodia had exported to China three times more than China's exports to Cambodia. He also said that Cambodia is also an important destination for Chinese foreign investments.

This is only the beginning. Within a decade or so, China could claim the "The World Super Power" trophy. She will have much influence in Asia, possibly the world. Those that be-friended with the rich and powerful, even a small and insignificant nation like Cambodia can be a beneficiary of China's success. As far as politics, Cambodia and China should try to find a common ground to stand on. The past had passed, learn the mistakes, never repeat it, and move on. This seem to be the common ground where China and Cambodia can agree. Cambodia needs China as a trading partner, together they will benefit economically from one another.

partnership and that is why the ties between the two
nations is becoming stronger.

I doubt the figures here that Cambodia exported to China three times more than China exported to Cambodia. What goods or products did Cambodia export to China? It looks like that China exported to Cambodia many, many times over. We know Cambodia exported about $2-$3 billion to America because of the garments. What has Cambodia to export to China?

10:17AM, the garment factories in Cambodia are mostly own by Chinese, so those sown cloth are made by Cambodian and ship to China. Maybe that is what they mean they say that Cambodia exported three times more than what China exported to Cambodia.
