Orphans benefit from sale

Ipswich Queensland Times
5th July 2010

A SUPER car boot sale is being organised by the Laidley-based Vietnam Veterans' Federation Sub-Branch to raise funds for the Cambodian Landmine Museum and Orphanage.

Sub-Branch president Graham Allan said the event, to be held in Laidley's Ferrari Park from 8am on Saturday, July 10, would be an ideal opportunity for local residents to offload any of their unwanted items.

“The sale is open to anyone who wants to turn up,” Mr Allan said.

“There will be trash and treasure for sale, as well as plants, jams and cakes.

“Raffles will be conducted throughout the morning.

“Of course, there will also be the surprises of whatever articles local residents might have in their car boots.

“The highlight of the event will be the drawing of the major raffle prize of a set of tyres kindly donated by our Cambodian orphanage project supporters, Darra Tyre Service.”

Mr Allan said raising funds for the orphanage, in conjunction with the Laidley RSL Sub-Branch, was the group's major charity project for 2010.

“Our members have been working hard over the past few weeks, organising and publicising the car boot sale and we're anticipating a good response from people across the greater Ipswich region,” he said.
