AVALON, CATALINA ISLAND - Despair is the complete loss or absence of hope -- to believe without a doubt that there is no chance of life or circumstances changing. Hope is what three women from Avalon desire to bring to the people of Cambodia. Avalon Community and Catalina Bible Churches are sending Caitlin Quintana, Gina Long, and Caitlyn Canby to Cambodia from August 9-23 to bring hope to children who have been rescued from the sex trafficking industry. To help offset the cost of the trip, the ladies are hosting a fundraiser dinner at the Bible Church on Sunday, July 11 from 5:30-8 pm. Luis Sanchez will be cooking some mexican cuisine, and there will be an open mic, so come ready to entertain or to be entertained. Any funds beyond travel costs will be taken on the trip as a gift to bless the people of Cambodia. The cost of the dinner is $10 and includes a plated dinner, a drink, and one raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets will be sold at the door for the chance to win prizes from businesses around town including free zip line tickets. Tickets will be sold in the arcade and Community Church office and at the door of the event. Takeout dinners will be available. Look for more information around town or all the church office at 310-510-1889. |
