PHNOM PENH, Jul. 5, 2010 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Cambodian government on Monday handed over two Thai nationals to Thailand over their alleged involvement in bomb attacks in Bangkok last month.

The two identified as Kobchai Boonplod and Varissareeya Boonsom or known as Warisaya Boonsom were arrested in Cambodia's northern province of Siem Reap last Saturday.

Speaking to reporters at Phnom Penh International Airport where the hand-over of the two Thais was conducted, Long Visalo, secretary of state of foreign ministry, said it was the Cambodian government's commitment to fighting against terrorism.

Thai Embassy's Charge d'Affairs Suwat Kaewsook thanked the Cambodian government for their help to arrest the two suspects and handed over to Thai government.

Long Visalo said that "there are evidence that the two involved in terrorist acts," but he did not give details.

The two, a man and a woman, were allegedly involved in the attack on June 22 in front of the headquarters of the Bhumjaithai Party, part of the Thai government coalition.

Long Visalo said Cambodia adheres to its anti-terrorism policy and is committed to all agreements and laws on the fight against terrorism.

However, he said that normalization of diplomatic relations depended on the Thai side.

Following the appointment of ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra as economic advisor to Cambodia, relations between Cambodia and Thailand were downgraded last year.
