A Cambodian military engineering unit has almost completed a 1,350 metres road leading up to reach Ta Thav Pass mountain top at Phnom Trop which is located about 7 kilometres from Preah Vihear temple, reports Reaksmei Kampuchea.
Maj-Gen. Kheng Sumedh, commander of the Siem Reap Military Engineering Unit, said the construction of the Ta Thav Pass road is 50% completed. He said the road has the width of 15 metres, but only 7 metres will be paved. He added that the road will help make tourists and troop movements easier.
Ta Thav Pass and Phnom Trop are two hotly contested spots between Cambodian and Thai troops which have seen a number of armed clashes in the last two years.
