Cambodian soldiers digging trenches on the border areas near Ta Krabey temple (pictured) have found a large ancient stele with ancient writings which no one can read, reports everyday.com.
Mr. Neak Vong, Deputy Commander of the 42nd Battalion based at Ta Moan Thom temple, said his soldiers had found the stele on Tuesday 8th June while digging trenches. He said the large stone was inscribed in ancient writings which no one can read.
He said the stele was 47 centimeres in width, 80 centimetres thick and one metre tall. He said he had ordered the stele to be removed and taken to Ta Moan Thom temple for security reason.
Mr. Neak Vong said he believes that the stele has been cut off and stolen from other temple and brought to be buried in the area waiting for an opportunity for it to be sold or smuggled into Thailand.
