A mixed delegation of Khmer-Vietnamese senior ministers have on the 8th of June visited Robieng coastal border pass in Kep province to study the possibility of upgrading and developing it into an international checkpoint to improving bilateral trades between the two countries, reports Koh Santepheap.
The delegation was led by Mr. Ngo Dinh Duc, Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, and Mr. Lim Sidenin, Cambodia's Secretary of State of Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The members of the delegation include Mr. Var Sim Sorya, Director of Public Administration and other officials, as well a diplomatic official from an Australian Embassy.
Mr. Morm Touch, Director of Public Works and Transport Office of Kep, said the purpose of the visit was to conduct a feasibility study to look at a potential of building road, developing and ungrading Robieng coastal checkpoint to improve access for trades between the two countries.
Mrs. Prum Chamroeun, Deputy Governor of Kep province, said the delegation's tour of the area was to see the area first first hand. However, she said that it is also a feasibility study with a view to building road and transport infrastructure such as constructing a railway and building a seaport in the area.
