3,000 garment workers from the textile company OCEAN GARMENT CO., LTD. have on today's morning, Monday the 14th, staged a protest against the sackings of their seven colleagues, reports Deum Ampil.

According to Deum Ampil, the 3,000 workers have just been split from the Federation of Workers which has a well-known link with various textile companies and which supports employers against employees. The workers have now joined the Free Trades Union of the Workers of the Kingdom of Cambodia headed by Mr. Chea Mony.

According to the report, they are protesting to demand the reinstatement of their 7 colleagues who were sacked for no apparent reasons.

However, the company's management accused them of inciting other workers to protest against the company.

What do you mean for no apparent reasons? From an outsider point of view, it must have been stirring trouble and trying to organise more union activities, eventhough there are already properly registered unions to represent the workers. I know of a factory having as much as 9 to ten unions. How do you expect management to work.
