Two bush rangers found a wreckage of a plane crash in a jungle in Kampong Speu province which is believed to be either shot down or crashed during the civil war in the 1970s, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

On Thursday 27th May, KoKo Photo Shop provided 7 photographs to Kampuchea Thmey claiming that two bush rangers brought their mobile phone to the shop and asked the shop to print the photos contained in the mobile phone showing a plane wreckage they claimed were taken in the area around Oral Mountain in Kampong Speu province. The photos showing two men standing on the plane wreckage and parts of the plane showing a Khmer alphabets which reads "Cheat" which means "nation". However, the two bush rangers refused to tell the exact location of the plane wreckage or their home addresses.

According to the locals, in 1973 there was a plane crash in the area but the wreckage has never been found or no one knows how many people have been killed.

Gen. Keo Pisey, Police Commissioner of Kampong Speu, told Kampuchea Thmey that he has not received the report about the discovery of the wreckage, but said a few years ago there was a plane crash in Kampong Chhnang province adjacent to Kampong Speu province near the location of the wreckage. He appealed to the two bush rangers to cooperate with the authority so that the wreckage can be recovered. However, at the time of this article going to press, the two bush rangers had not come forward yet.

I remember going to see a wreckage of a DC-10? Crashed after take off from Battambong Airport full of oranges and what else. I know people were on the plane, 'cause I saw porters carrying dead people out on their shoulders. I believe the plane caught fire 'cause of the charred bodies. This happened during a wet season.

I was fascinated how huge the tail section of the plane was. Never been near a plane before but always was fascinated to see planes flying overhead.

My assumption of the crash probably caused by over loading.
Could been an engines failure.

If I had a chance of a career back then it would had been being a pilot.

According to the scene of the wreckage, it look old so I assumed the plane might be crashed in the 1970s, not a few years ago. It could be the American-made T-28 bombers that have been used to bomb Khmer Rouge targets during the 1970s' civil war and shot down by the KR or the Viet Cong because the areas were former KR and Viet Cong military bases.

Plane crash

I was referring of the crash that took place before the Khmer Rouge Era in Battambong Airport. May been in 1974-75 time frame.
