The president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Mr. Chea Sim, has lauded King Sihamoni with praises, calling him a king who has tossapit reachathor and prohmavihear thor, reports everyday.com.

Tossapit reachathor is the tenfold qualifications of the king that include making charity, having morality, making sacrifices, having honesty, softness, austerity, calmness, peacefulness, patience and respect for the law. Prohmavihear thor is the fourfold noble basic attributes of a person, includes compassion, pity, joy at other's happiness and sincerity.

In the Buddhist philosophy, a king who has the above qualifications and attributes, tossapit reachathor and prohmavihear thor, is considered almost a perfect king.

In a letter of best wishes for the king 58th birthday obtained by reporters on 6th May, Mr. Chea Sim said King Sihamoni had these qualifications and attributes because he had fulfilled his duties in improving the prestige of his nation, maintaining independence, defending the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Cambodia.

Mr. Chea Sim's letter also stressed that it was the ruling CPP who revived the Cambodian monarchy in 1993 and kept it alive till today, after it was abolished by Marshal Lon Nol in 1970.

If his majesty qualification is almost "perfect" I sure would like to see more justice come forth from the king and not from the ruling party. A good king would bring the wheel over the wicked. It means to rid of corruption in the system and of the land. A king should not tolerate evil in his presence but rather quick to scatter them out from his sight. If he knows what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for the good of all. If that is evidence I say 'long live the king'.

King Sihamoni is a modern day king who follow the constitution correctly. Unlike his father, he stayed away from politics which makes him less controversial and more acceptable to political leaders. He got some of the attributes as described by Chea Sim, however he falls short of a perfect king. In regard to him being unable to rid corruption, I don't think it is his fault. He is a constitutional king who reign but shall not rule. Corruption and justice and so on is the responsibility of the executive branch which is the government. Only Hun Sen and his government is to blame for corruption and injustices, not the king because he has no power.
