A senior government minister has been detained by police after he was involved in a hit and run accident with a motorcyclist in Thmor Kol district of Battambang province on Saturday afternoon, reports Koh Santepheap.
Koh Santepheap reported that Mr. Suth Dina, a former spokesman for the defunct Norodom Ranaridhh Party who defected to the ruling Cambodian People's Party after the 2008 election and now serves as Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attempted to drive off after he has crashed his luxury Lexus into a moving motorbike, seriously injuring the rider, 18 year-old Leang Huot. Mr. Suth Dina drove off for about 3 kilometres from the accident site, but he was arrested by the police at Poy Samrong village, Ta Loung commune in Thmor Kol district of Battambang province.
However, a few hours later, Mr. Suth Dina was released from police custody after interventions by many senior government officials from Phnom Penh, without having to pay any compensation to the victim who was still receiving treatments in the hospital.

This is Cambodia under Hun sen. Powerful people can commit crime and got away with it. He recklessly hit a motorcyclist and attempted to run away. In western countries, hit and run accident carries heavy penalty and fines, and sometimes jail term. if you hit some body, you must stop and give assistance to the injured persons, not tried to run away. And to release Suth Dina like this is wrong!
Suth Dina used to belong to the Norodom Ranarridh Party so I thought he was different from those of the CPP.
I guess I was horribly wrong!
It looks like there is no hope for the Cambodian officials, no matter what party they belong to.

They think about their power and pockets more than Cambodia. Whoever joined the devil will have to be a devil in order to survive. Suth Dina was a real fighter for freedom and Cambodia when he was a student. Now he has joined the devil CPP and Hun Sen so he has to be a devil like them. Now he is a real devil too. Very, very sad.

I hate Cambodia. Corruption make the country poor. All high officials above the law. Disgraceful!
It does not matter how Hun Sen preached, the impunity and entervention culture in Cambodia are still very popular. I don't think that Suth Dina will be able to escape from the law this time. Because of this is accident is already wide spreaded.
Another thing I just want to react to the one who wrote "Charet Khmer (Cambodian characters) is Charet Khmer and it won't change or will it?" What do you mean? Why do you think Khmer chacraters should be changed?" If you don't know Khmer. Shut up your bad mouth!!! Mr. Dina's act does not reflect to all the Khmer people. Go back to your bed,read the Khmer's history and rethink!
