During an inauguration ceremony of Town Hall building in the Preah Vihear provincial capital of Tbeng Meanchey on Wednesday, 12th May, Mr. Hun Sen (pictured) has strongly warned all Cambodian commanders to report correct information about Khmer-Thai border situations, whether they are small or big, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

In the past, there are accusations that the Cambodian commanders based along Khmer-Thai borders have incorrectly reported about border situations with Thailand. There are accusations that small incursions by Thai troops and the landings of Thai artillery shells in Cambodian territory have gone unreported. "I do not want to receive untruthful information, neither do I want to hear exaggerated news nor under-reported news", he warned.

He also warned all Cambodian commanders to be vigilant at all time about the situations along the disputed borders with Thailand. He said if the military commanders wrongly report about the situations, he as a leader, cannot evaluate and grasp the real situations that are happening on the ground along the borders.

Prime Minister Hun Sen pointed his finger at Gen. Chea Dara, commander of the Khmer-Thai border areas, and Gen. Chhin Chanpor for providing him with conflicting information about a small clash on 17th April at Phnom Trop. "At that time I received different information from different commanders, so I made the decision based on the information provided to me. I only know the truth when I asked the battalion commanders based on the frontline", he said.

He warned the two generals to provide him with correct and detailed information next time, regardless of whether it is a small or big information.

On 17th April, there was a small clash at Phnom Trop. The next morning, the Thai commanders came to apologise to the Cambodian commanders by saying that there is a misunderstanding due to the drunkenness of some of the Thai soldiers who triggered the clash in a drunken rage. Mr. Hun Sen said how can all 25 Thai soldiers were drunk at that time. This must be a ploy, he said.

According to Cambodian Express News, Mr. Hun Sen also blasted at the media for widely reporting his trip to inaugurate the town hall building in Preah Vihear provincial capital, situated 116 kilometres from the borders, by accusing them of insinuating that his trip had a sinister twist in relations to the Khmer-Thai border conflict.

Mr. Hun Sen's trip to border areas in early February had caused a rancour with Bangkok when he blasted the Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva with offensive languages after he was prevented by Thai troops from visiting the Cambodian temple of Ta Moan Thom.

He angrily said that even if he wanted to visit Preah Vihear temple or the nearby Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak pagoda now, no one can stop him because it is a Cambodian territory. "Even if I leave here now to go to have lunch at Preah Vihear temple or to go and visit the Buddhist monks at Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak pagoda, I can. They are our territories, so it is not difficult", he declared.

Thailand has always said that if Mr. Hun Sen wanted to visit these two areas or other border areas deemed disputed, he has to seek prior permission from Thailand.
