Cambodian Senate President meets Chinese delegation


PHNOM PENHXinhua—Cambodian Senate President Chea Sim (pictured) on Friday met with visiting delegation of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee headed by Zhao Qizheng.

Zhao, chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, and his delegation arrived here on Thursday night to pay a four-day friendly visit at the invitation of Cambodian Senate which is aimed to further strengthen the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Chea Sim said that Cambodia and China enjoy a long history of friendship. He said in the past half-century, the bilateral relations between the two countries have been enhanced and deepened steadily, especially in recent years with the frequent high-level visits.
Chea Sim thanked Chinese government and people for their valuable support and selfless assistance to Cambodia, which he said have played a very important role in the maintenance of peace and stability in Cambodia and national economic and social development.

He said that Cambodia will continue to strengthen the friendly exchanges with Chinese Communist Party, government, parliament and the people in an effort to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Meanwhile, Chea Sim reiterated that Cambodia will unswervingly pursue the one China policy, and will firmly support the Chinese government's stance on Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang. Moreover, in international affairs, Cambodia will stand with Chinese government and support each other to push the bilateral relations to a new high level, he added.

Zhao Qizheng highly commended Cambodia's political stability, social peace, and remarkable achievements made by the Royal Government in various fields. He expressed his belief that Cambodia will continue to accelerate the pace of national developments on its correct road. Zhao said that his visit to Cambodia is aimed to further promote the inter-parliamentary exchanges and cooperation and to strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries.

He said that China hopes to continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, to further expand economic and trade exchanges and cooperation in order to achieve common development.
