29th ASEANAPOL: Vietnam fully fulfills its commitments

As the chair of ASEANAPOL, Vietnam’s police force have effectively joined their ASEAN colleagues and partners in carrying out the commitments made at the 29th conference of ASEAN police chiefs over the past year, said the Cambodian Minister of the Interior Sar Kheng (pictured).

Sar Kheng, who is also Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister, hailed Vietnam’s efforts to map out effective crime prevention plans to raise the status of ASEAN police in the international arena when he opened the 30th ASEANAPOL (Association of Southeast Asian Nations Chiefs of National Police) Conference in Phnom Penh on May 25.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among regional police forces to combat the increase in transnational, organized and cyber crimes.

The Director of Vietnam’s General Police Department, Pham Quy Ngo, who heads up the Vietnamese delegation at the conference, made a speech at the event.

Later the same day, Mr Ngo was received by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. On behalf of ASEAN police chiefs, he briefed the PM on the outcomes of anti-crime cooperation among ASEAN police forces over the past year.

The 30th ASEANAPOL conference shows the determined effort ASEAN and its partners are making to fight crime and ensure a peaceful and stable ASEAN.
