A senior government official told Mr. Son Chhay, MP from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, to stop fighting against the confiscation of his 3-hectare land or he will face prosecution, reports Radio Free Asia.

Mr. Son Chhay's 3-hectare land in Siem Reap was confiscated on 1st April because they authority claimed the land belong to the Apsara Authority. Mr. Son Chhay, however, said he legally bought the land in 1995.

Mr. Tith Sothea (pictured), spokesman for the Press Quick Reaction Unit, said 265 families had agreed to the confiscation, therefore Mr. Son Chhay alone cannot oppose against the court's verdict. "Among the 266 families, 265 families had already agreed, so one person cannot oppose the laws.....Up until now, the authority had also implemented the verdict (to evict all the families). If he did not accept the verdict, subsequent actions/measures there will be taken (against him)", he said.

Mr. Son Chhay cannot be reached for comment at the time of this report going to air. However, he had said he will take his case to the international arena.

This lowly-educated Hun Sen's official know nothing, except threats and violence. Son Chhay bought his lands legally, so he must be compensated to the market value, not 50 cents/m2. This is a robbery by Sok An to give to Sok Kong.
