Nineteen Khmer Krom who were deported from Thailand in December 2009 have now dispersed and went to live separately when a local NGO and UNHCR Office told them that they will no longer receive food ration and rental assistance provided to them since the end of 2009, reports everyday.com.

The group said they have lived together in the same accommodation to make it easier for them to seek assistance from the NGO and UN Office, but now said they have abandoned their claim of political asylum and decided to disperse after the assistance has been stopped.

On Wednesday 21st April, 10 of the 19 Khmer Krom asylum-seekers gathered in front of the UNHCR Office in Phnom Penh to ask them to continue helping them with accommodation and food, but their request was turned down.

In December 2009, 19 Khmer Krom asylum-seekers were deported from Thailand. They fled from Vietnam via Cambodia to Thailand a few weeks earlier claiming they faced persecution by the Vietnamese authority, but the Thai authority arrested them and deported them back to Cambodia. The Cambodian authority denied them residency status and insisted that they return back to Vietnam.

Your title and your story are good, but rethinkable to be eddited. "Nine Khmer Krom deported from Thailand in limbo" or "Nineteen Khmer Krom deported from Thailand in limbo"
