Hang Chakra, the editor-in-chief of the Khmer Machas Srok newspaper who was jailed since mi 2009, has been released from Prey Sor Jail at 4PM on Khmer New Year's day, the 13th of April, reports Radio Free Asia.
In front of the jail gate, Hang Chakra told reporters that he is happy and he plans to have a Buddhist blessing at a pagoda to rid himself of all the misfortunes. He said he celebrate the Khmer New Year with his familiy and relatives tomorrow, the 14th, to welcome the New Year deity.
Heng Hak, the deputy director of the ministry of Interior, said this afternoon that Hang Chakra and 23 other prisoners in Prey Sor Jail, were released this afternoon after King Sihamoni signed a royal decree to pardon them.
