Prime Minister Hun Sen firmly declared that his government will be relentlessly pursuing the perpetrators of illegal logging to the end, no matter who they are and what positions they hold, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

During a meeting at the Council of Ministers on Friday, Mr. Hun Sen told all cabinet ministers that the government will pursue the perpetrators to the end in an effort to stamp out illegal logging and deforestation. He called illegal loggers and those behind the illegal logging businesses "traitors".

Recently, police and military police raided many warehouses across the country that stockpiled hundreds and thousands cubic metres of illegal timbers, but perpetrators and owners of those warehouses have not been apprehended.

The PM said the majority of offenders and masterminds are high-placed officials, but he said from now on, it doesn't matter who high-placed they are or how powerful they are, they will be pursued and prosecuted.

At the same time, Mr. Hun Sen had also declared his war against illegal gambling and drug trafficking as well. He said in 2010, all sorts of illegal logging, illegal gambling, illegal tinting of vehicles and drug trafficking will have to be stopped.
