Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) blasted civil society and opposition parties for opposing the anti-corruption laws passed by the parliament on Thursday and told them to wait until 2013 elections to write their own laws if they win the elections, report Kampuchea Thmey.
Speaking during a conference to propagate the new "Criminal Code" on 10th March, the same day as the adoption of the anti-corruption laws, Mr. Hun Sen said that the laws that was just adopted by the parliament is better than no law at all. "I appeal to all concerned individuals, please wait until 2013, when you win the elections. Please change these laws when you win the elections", he said.
Opposition parties and civil society are concerned that the current laws didn't go far enough and they want more effective clauses to be added to the laws.
The law was adopted unanimously by the MPs from the ruling Cambodian People's Party after the MPs from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party walked off and the Human Rights Party boycotted the parliamentary session.
At the same time, Prime Minister Hun Sen was propagating the 40-article Criminal Code that will help in the implementation of the newly-adopted anti-corruption Laws.

These laws will only serve the ruling Cambodian People's Party and its officials an cronies. Only the oppositions and powerless poor people will get punished. These will absolve Hun Sen, Sok An and other powerful corrupt officials from punishment. Sometimes, no law is better than a bad law.
