The history of Buddhist flag

Flags were employed since the history of the beginnings of civilisation. People and the nations employ the flag like expression of their identity, superiority or victory. The Buddhists employ five colors and flag triped by six. It has five colors, being composed of orange, blue, yellow, red dark, white and magenta royal. Its has six vertical bands to represent five colors in the orders above in the first five bands and a composition of all the five colors in the last voyage. The blue band is close to the personnel of flag and the compound constitutes the free margin. It is said to him that when Gotama the Buddha reached enlightenment, five colours emanated from its royal of body of its hair, yellow of its skin, red blue however of the flesh and blood, white of the teeth and the bones and orange of the palms, the heels and the lips. During the time they became mixed together, a sixth made up color was formed. And all these six colours surrounded the person of Buddha. Five colors: blue, yellow, red, white and orange also represent noble qualities of the Buddha - blue for confidence, the yellow for holiness, reds for wisdom, white for the purity and l' orange for the tirelessness. Consequently, the Buddhist flag points out the spiritual the Buddha will have. The Buddhist flag, which s' also call the flag of sila of PANCHA, is a symbol of the rebirth of the dhamma in modern times. The flag designed by a council directed by Sri Sumangala and to be composed of worthy Hikkaduve, William de Abrew, Gift Carolis Hewavitharana, Peter de Abrew, Lansage Gift Andiris Perera Dharmagunawardene, Charls A.de Silva, N.S. Fernando, William Fernando like members and Carolis Poojitha Goonawardene as a secretary. CArolis Poojitha Goonawardene designed and produced the Buddhist flag with the board and was accepted. Worthy M.Gunananda, a famous buddhist monk raised the first time the flag at Kotahena, in Sri Lanka with the occasion of Buddha Purnima on April 28, 1885. The flag was accepted like the Buddhist flag of the world to the first conference of the friendship of Wold of the Buddhists held in Sri Lanka in 1950.
