A Cambodian student studying in Malaysia had on 18th March broken the record to be the first to climb to the highest point of South East Asia's highest mountain, Malaysia's Mount Kinapalu and planted the Cambodian flag on the mountain top, reports Deum Ampil.
Lim Vicheka was participating in a mountain climb as part of his study tour with 40 students from 27 countries from as far as the Middle East and Africa.
Mount Kinapalu is 4,ooo metres high and has a distance of 8,000 metres to reach the highest point by walking tracks. It takes 9 hours to reach to mountain top by walking.
Lim Vicheka is currently studying for a bachelor of civil engineering course at Malaysia's Petronas University. Currently, 20 Cambodian students had received scholarships from the Malaysian national petroleum company, Petronas, to study at the university.
