Prague, March 3 (CTK) - Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni (pictured), who spent 13 years in then Czechoslovakia in 1962-75, will arrive for a week-long private visit to the Czech Republic on March 14 during which he will meet Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Klaus announced on his web page www.klaus.cz yesteday.
The Presidential Office will host a gala dinner in honour of the king who will meet Klaus on March 18.
Sihamoni, 56, speaks Czech and he says he considers former Czechoslovakia his second homeland. He attended primary and secondary schools and then studied ballet in Prague.
During his previous private visit to the Czech Republic in 2006, Sihamoni agreed with Klaus that his close relationship to the Czech Republic could help promote Czech-Cambodian relations.
Sihamoni was also granted Prague's honorary citizenship and became the first king to hold the title.
The Czech Republic will receive another member of a royal family, British Crown Prince Charles.
He will arrive in Prague with his wife Camilla on March 20. He will meet Klaus on the same day.
Klaus announced this week further planned visits on the level of head of state. One of them is Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva.
In November, the presidents of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries, that is the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, will meet in Karlovy Vary, west Bohemia.
The Czech Republic will host the meeting after four years.
