Two border markers planted between Kampong Cham and Tay Ninh

Cambodian oppositions and government critics had always alleged that border markers were always planted inside Khmer territory. Here border marker N0s. 184, 185, 186 and 187 were shown to be planted inside Khmer territory.

Vietnam News Agency (VOV News) reported that border markers No.81 and No. 84 had been planted in Cambodia's Kampong Cham province and Vietnam's Tay Ninh province on Friday 29th January and Saturday 30th respectively under the watchful eyes of observers, witnesses, diplomats, border guards and local villagers, reports Deum Ampil.

During the planting of the border markers, border guard units from the two countries held talks in an effort to seek cooperation, friendship and peace a long the borders of the two countries.

VOV News reported that, over the last year, the Mekong delta province of Long An has planted 16 border markers on the common border line between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The province shares 137.727 km of border line with 53 mark positions and 62 border markers with Cambodia’s Svay Rieng and Prey Veng provinces.

Cambodia and Vietnam share more than 1200 kilometres of un-demarcated border lines with each other. The border marker planting between the two countries is expected to be completed by late 2012.

Recently, Cambodian Sam Rainsy Party had released maps and photographs showing that most border markers have always been planted inside Khmer territory. However, the government had always denied the allegation by accusing the oppositions of fabrications.
