The Cambodian Defence Ministry claimed that three Thai loggers had stepped on landmines while logging along the Khmer-Thai borders, reports everyday.com.

Gen. Chhum Socheat, spokesman for the Defence Ministry, said on 17th February that the three Thai loggers stepped on landmines while cutting Kro-nhoung trees [luxury hardwood] on the borders near An Sess Point in Preah Vihear province.

The spokesman added that in the incident, one Thai logger had his lower leg blown off and two others had their thighs blown off.

Many Cambodian loggers have been brutally killed by Thai soldiers in the area. The fact that there are landmines in the area indicated that the territory falls under Cambodian sovereignty because there is no landmine in Thailand, but millions of landmines were laid in Cambodia during the civil war in the 1980s.
