A commander of the Thai Military Region Two, Lt-Gen. Wiwalit Chornsamrith, had forbidden Cambodian troops from building a cable basket from the Cambodian side to Preah Vihear temple, which is perched on a spectacular mountain top overlooking the Cambodian plains, reports everyday.com.

A Thai website reported that Gen. Chornsamrith said that Cambodia has no rights to build this cable basket to Preah Vihear temple because the cable runs through the 4.6sq. kilometres "overlapping areas". He added that the cable basket runs through the "overlapping areas" and therefore Cambodia needs permission from Thailand before it can build anything cutting throught the areas.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said during his visit to Preah Vihear on 6th February that the 4.6sq. kilometres disputed zone doesn't exist and that the areas deemed by Thailand as "overlapping areas" are Cambodian territories.
