Two strategic roads connecting National Highway 67 in Anlong Veng district at Sras Chhouk (Lotus Pond) point to Kbal Tonsorng point (Wild Ox's Head), 17o metres high above sea level, and from Sras Chhouk to Ta Veng village, 260 metres above sea level, built by Engineering Unit of the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces, have been completed, reports everyday.com.
Lt-Gen. Kvan Siem, commander of the Engineering Unit, said the constructions of these two roads have been closely monitored by Thai troops who often took photos of the excavators and earthmoving equipments working in the areas.
Col. Yin Sontharak, commander of Engineering Unit 716, said the road from Sras Chhouk to Kban Tonsorng is 9 kilometres long and the road from Sras Chhouk to Ta Veng village is 14 kilometres long. He added that construction of road from Sras Chhouk to Ta Veng village on top of the Dangrek Mountains encountered a lot of obstacles as the areas are littered with landmines. He said during the construction of the Sras Chhouk-Ta Veng road, 2213 landmines have been found and cleared.

These roads are strategically important. They can act as borderlines to stop the Thais from pushing in further and they can act as routes for military personnel and equipment transportation should there be any war or fighting with Thai troops.
