No "Overlapping" or "Disputed" 4.6 km2 Area...It's all within Cambodia!

By Khmer Surin
ไม่มีพื้นที่ 'ทับซ้อน' หรือ 'โต้แย้ง' ๔.๖ ก.ม.๒...เป็นดินแดนในกัมพูชาตลอดมา!

The delineation of boundary between Cambodia and Thailand by the mixed French-Siamese commission was not a mere coincidence. It was done on the agreement that the French position in Indochina gave up Chanthaburi and Trat provinces; and Siam returned Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, and Battambang provinces, which it had conquered and occupied for over two centuries back to Cambodia. It's a misconception for Thais to think that the Franco-Siamese treaty of 1904-07 was an unfair treaty while France was a super power at the time. King Sisowath considered the treaty a major accomplishment during his reign by regaining Cambodia's most important historical land back. On the other hand, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Siam believed it was to the best interests of Siam for gaining Chanthaburi and Trat provinces from the French possession and safeguarding their homebase country from being a colony of the west. Chanthaburi and Trat provinces proved to be a great bargain for Thailand today with a vast area of the Gulf of Thailand, islands, and large oil and gas deposits beneath the sea floor. This land trade off also gave Bangkok a more proportional distance away from Cambodia, roughly 120 miles from the border. The Franco-Siamese treaty of 1904-07 showed Annex I map with a clear and finite boundary line between Thailand and Cambodia. There were no so-called "overlapping" or "disputed" 4.6 km2 between the two kingdoms. The Annex I map was subsequently being used by the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of then King-Father Norodom Sihanouk in the World Court case regarding Preah Vihear in 1962, in which the court ruled by a vote of 9 to 3 that Preah Vihear Temple and the adjacent areas were in the territory of Cambodia.

Why Cambodia is wasting negotiating with Thailand. Take the case back to the World Court and make Thailand pays for its aggression against its neighbors.

Thank you Khmer Surin for speaking the truth. Cambodia has to stand up and defend its soveriegnty. Thailand is too greedy and it has been bullying Cambodia for centuries. It even turns Khmers in Thailand against Khmers in Cambodia. Now it is successfully thainized Khmers in Thailand through the teaching of false history.

"Why Cambodia is wasting negotiating with Thailand. Take the case back to the World Court and make Thailand pays for its aggression against its neighbors." because our leaders today are weak and show no leadership to be one.

Cambodia must bring this case to international mediation, UN or world court. Don't waste time talking with Thailand because its leaders are nor sincere and genuine to reach any agreements because it means they have to withdraw troops from Khmer territory. More than one years of talking already, nothing has come out of the meetings because Thai leaders are playing games. They want our lands, we must know that! So, to kick them out of our lands is to bring outside help and involve third parties.

Your PM is coward, everytime he talking he use street language because he never been in school. He probably don't even know whether he in Cambodia or in Thai soil because he himself don't know Cambodian history.
Your PM got no guts and got no balls. Cambodia people need to get rid of him.

If the war broke out Thai stand no chance this time.....

2:18 AM, are you talking about Cambodian PM Hun Sen or Thai PM Abhisit?

Look like you are talking about Hun Sen, but why the last paragraph you ended your sentence by saying "Thai stand no chance..." I am confused with your statement here.

It is true Hun Sen used street language and never finished his secondary education, however I believe that it is Thailand which doesn't know where its borders lie and always encroached on Khmer and Laotian territories. Just ask yourself how much territory or how many Khmer and Laotian provinces has Thailand annexed already. My count is no less than 10 Cambodian provinces and the same number with Laos.

Khmer people around the world sincerely hope that Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen and his legal team educate themselves with some historical facts and study the ICJ verdict of June 15, 1962 carefully so that we don't encounter other unforseen problems in the legal battle with Thailand.

Notifying the World Court and the UN security council should have done the first day when Thai troops entered Cambodia. By delaying with deadlock bilateral talks, this causes a major misconception to the world that there is a border dispute and overlapping areas when in fact it was final at the verdict of June 15, 1962.

May the spirits of our ancestors protect Khmer people and land from all evil aggressions.
