beautiful women. But as usual there was cattiness and some tears on the premiere of the show.
First up, there was a recap of Jake's trials and tribulations on his road to becoming The Bachelor. The usual shirtless shots and corny lines ensued. When host Chris Harrison asked the handsome pilot what he would do if the girl of his dreams was afraid of flying, Jake proclaimed, "Love is more powerful than flying."
Then it was time for Jake to meet his ladies. As the limos pulled up, out came a bevy of blondes with a few gorgeous brunettes thrown in for good measure (Pavelka stated upfront his ideal woman would be blonde with blue or green eyes). The girls had names like Tiana, Valishia and Vienna (for the full list of the 25 contestants and their status, see below)
Many of the ladies had gimmicks as they met Jake. One girl brought bags of jellybeans for all of the other contestants, as a consolation prize for them since she was confident she would be 'the winner". Who is she, the Easter Bunny?
Another girl offered Jake a coin- heads she stays, tails he sends her home. Of course he got heads (double sided coin, anyone?)
Still another girl tripped on her dress, right into Jake's arms. Yes, it was going to be a long night.
There were, of course, the obligatory cliché lines peppered throughout the show. One contestant, Channy, told Jake he could land his plane on her landing strip anytime. She said it in Cambodian first, then translated it. She should have kept it in Cambodian.
Later, Jake was loving life when he was caught in the middle of a Blonde vs. Brunettes football game.
