Reports from Oddar Meanchey province indicated that two more Cambodian loggers have been shot and killed by Thai soldiers, reports Deum Ampil.

Provincial authority said the two were killed, one seriously wounded and 8 Cambodian loggers were arrested by Thai soldiers on 8th December while logging in the border areas.

The dead loggers were identified as 20 year-old Phal Sokha and 55 year-old Plork Lai. While the seriously wounded logger was identified as 30 year-old Cheng Channy.

This is a second time in less that a week that Thai soldiers have shot and killed Khmer loggers. On 5th December, 19 year-old Meas Ka-On was shot and killed while logging in the border areas.

There are reports that the body of the two dead men had been repatriated to their families for funeral while the 7 arrested, namely 32 year-old Mao Kheng, 16 year-old Mith Meth, 61 year-old Lanh Yoeun, 17 year-old Yoeun Dina, 17 year-old Phallineth, 22 year-old Sophy, 35 year-old Som Ny, have been detained in Thai jail awaiting court hearing.

According to fellow loggers, Phal Sokha went missing during the shooting spree by the Thai soldiers. Later, he was reportedly arrested by the Thai soldiers. And later he was found dead.
His fellow loggers and relatives feared that he might be tortured before he was killed.

Deum Ampil reported that, after the shooting, Gen. Chea Dara, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian Armed Forces, met with Thai military leaders and requested the Thai side to stop shooting unarmed cambodian loggers. The Thai side responded by saying that the Cambodian side must take measures to prevent its own citizens from crossing the borders illegally. The cambodian side responded by saying that it had put measures in place, but it is not possible to stop all illegal crossings.

Before I was very sick and tired of hearing this kind of incident to the Khmer brothers/sisters. I was wrong pointing my finger to the Cambodian Army where were they when their people need them, but now I realized that because these people were poor they have to do what they have to do risking their own live to survive. I am begging you to stop trading your life with a bullet. For your protection please arm yourself....

Also I want to say that the areas that they log have not been determined what country the belong to. Some sources said the areas belong to Cambodia, but Cambodian army can't defend the areas so now Thai soldiers control them.

In a civilized society, this people do not deserve to be killed like dogs. The Thai should just arrest them and try them in court.

On barbarians killed unarmed civilians in this manner.
