The opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) and Human Right Party (HRP) have denied that any of their party members had defected to the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) as claimed by officials from the CPP, reports Radio Free Asia.
Mrs. Ke Sovannaroth (pictured), Secretary General of the SRP, told RFA on 29th November that she had not received any information that any members of her party had defected to the CPP. She added that the claims that 20 of Mr. Rainsy's personal bodyguards had defected are pure lies because Mr. Rainsy did not employ that many bodyguards. "No, not true. From what I know His Excellency Sam Rainsy did not have that many bodyguards, he has only 2 personal bodyguards. Up until now, I have not received that information (of the defections)", she said.
Mr. Kem Sokha, president of the HRP, said no HRP members had defected to the CPP. On the contrary, there are thousands of CPP members had had defected to his party. "The HRP had not lost any party members. So, I don't know where they (the CPP) got those people from or maybe their ex-party members because members of my party are still with us. We had the CPP members defected to us from 2000-3000 members per month", he said.
Last weekend, officials from the CPP as well as local media reported that 128 SRP and HRP members had defected to the CPP in Phnom Penh's Meanchey district.

Well, CTN and Soy Sopheap are CPP tools. They can always fake the pictures by gathering people from somewhere, film it and declare that they are former SRP and defected to the CPP, unless they can show their party membership cards and other documents.
There might be some defections, but this is a CPP's propaganda. There are many CPP members defecting to SRP but they kept their silence because they fear for their lives. Remember, SRP started from scratch in 1995, now they have more than 2 million votes, so where are these voters came from? They must be from other parties, including the CPP.
