Four journalists arrested for extortions and for posing as PM Hun Sen's bodyguard

Four Cambodian journalists were arrested in Preah Vihear on 9th December for allegedly extorting and blackmailing to gain personal benefits, reports Deum Ampil.

Deum Ampil reported that, among the four, one was arrested on charges of falsely posing as the bodyguard of Prime Minister Hun Sen and making threats to other people. According to the report from Preah Vihear, Gen. Hing Bunheang (pictured right), the commander of Prime Minister Hun Sen's Bodyguard Unit, personally arrested the four.

In an unrelated report, 2 journalists have been accused of violating the Journalistic Code of Ethics in relations to the reports about the seizures and confiscations of the high quality timbers illegally smuggled by rogue traders in Siem Reap.

In the past, journalists have been killed, wounded, jailed and arrested for exposing corruptions and illegally activities in the government and the army.

I think the journalists was trying ti report Hing Bunheang's illegal activities in the border areas, may be he is logging illegally or doing something illegal, I think. I don't think the journalist dare to threat him or blackmail him like that. Hing Bunheang is one of the biggest crooks of all Hun Sen's military commanders.
