King Sinhamoni (pictured) is scheduled to make an official visit to Japan in 2010 at the invitation of the Emperor of Japan, reports Deum Ampil.
Foreign Minister Hor Namhong told reporters that King Sihamoni was invited to attend the 55th anniversary celebation of the Japan-Cambodia Friendship Treaty.
The invitation was made during a meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and Cambodian PM Hun Sen in Tokyo recently. The king's invitation to Japan coincides with the Japanese PM's invitation of the Mr. Hun Sen's son, Gen. Hun Manet, to make an official visit to Japan.
According to Deum Ampil, the Cambodian king will be meeting with Japanese government officials and have an audience with Emperor Akihito of Japan.
