The Cambodian Labour Ministry said Cambodia will evacuate Cambodian labourers working in Thailand should the need arrives to evacuate them, reports everyday.com.
Everyday.com quoted Mr. Oum Mean, secretary of State of Labour Ministry, who said on Friday the 6th that the decision whether to evacuate Cambodian workers or not depends on whether the current diplomatic row between the two countries will escalate to endangering the life of Cambodian workers or not. He said his ministry is waiting for advice from the Cambodian Foreign Ministry before taking any action to evacuate the Cambodian workers.
However, he said both Cambodia and Thailand still maintain diplomatic mission in each other's country and if Cambodian workers faced safety problems, the Cambodian diplomatic staff will offer help.
Currently, there are over 9,371 registered Cambodian labourers working in Thailand, but there are hudreds of thousands of illegal migrant Cambodian labourers working in Thailand.
