A group of Thai government officials had accused an unnamed Thai military general of treason for providing Thai top secrets relating to Preah Vihear to Cambodian officials, reports Reaksmei Kampuchea.
The mass circulation Thai Rath newspaper on Friday 16th October reported that the accusations against an unnamed Thai general came from a group calling themselves "40 V.S".
Thai Rath reported that, Mr. Thaibun Nittitakwan, one of the leader of "40 V.S", said that the name of the accused general will be revealed in a seminar to be held at the Parliament House on 20th Ocotober.
Mr. Thepmontri Limpakyom, a leader of the Thai ultra-nationalist group who is another leader of the "40 V.S", said he had enough evidences about the alleged espionage by the unnamed Thai general and that all the evidences will be presented at the seminar. He said that a lieutenant-general in the Thai army had secretly photographed the deployments of Thai weaponry and reconnaissance flights of the F-16 fighter jets near the Preah Vihear areas. Cambodia later used these evidences to complain to Unesco which led to the successful inscription of the Preah Vihear temple, he said.
The "4o V.S" group also accused Ms. Francoise Nevilliers (spelling?), Deputy Director of Unesco who is a French national, of causing the Khmer-Thai border disputes by signing the approval for the inscription of the Preah Vihear temple.
