SPRINGFIELD — Siamone Lopez fulfilled a dream to share authentic Cambodian and Thai recipes she brought with her to the United States in 1974 when she and husband Al Lopez opened Siamone’s Thai Pub and Restaurant in March 2006.

“This is a fun place and it has the best Thai food around at a good price,” said Al Lopez, of Green.

The restaurant, located at 2215 E. Waterloo Road in the Gala Commons plaza, has a full menu, a full-service bar, and is now open for lunch as well as dinner.

The menu includes appetizers, entrees, noodles, rice dishes and desserts, with entrées ranging in price from $10 to $15.

Appetizers such as the Thai Potpourri Platter offer a sampling of the Cambodian and Thai food and include two dumplings, two chicken satay, an egg roll, a spring roll, and two cream cheese and crab puffs.

The Cambodian and Thai cuisine includes customer favorites such as an entrée called Siamone’s Signature, which is made with grilled shrimp and scallops stir fried in a white wine sauce accented with a touch of ginger and tossed with mixed vegetables. Another favorite is called Drunken Crew, which is made with fresh hot Thai chiles blended with garlic, onion, galangal (Siamese ginger) and basil, all stir fried with whiskey, palm sugar and fish sauce, and red and green bell peppers and mushrooms, and served with chicken, beef or shrimp.

Also offered are “Authentic Creations” such as Four Flavored Fish, Beef Bulogi in Stone Hot Pot and Roast Duck Thai Style. The menu also offers rice and noodle dishes such as one called Pad Thai, which consists of rice noodles with eggs, chicken, tofu and baby shrimp garnished with bean sprouts, lime and peanuts. Another favorite is Bangkock Fried Rice, made with stir fried rice, chicken breast, pork, beef and shrimp, all mixed with onion, tomatoes and egg.

Desserts, such as fried bananas, fried cheesecake or Rumbatan — a white, fleshy sweet fruit removed from its natural, spiny red shell and served in a clear, cool syrup with pieces of ice — also are offered.

Siamone’s Thai Pub and Restaurant is open Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 4 to 11 p.m. and is closed Sundays. Siamone’s can be reached at (330) 733-5070.
