President Lee Myung-bak (pictured) leaves Korea on Tuesday morning for a trip to three Southeast Asian countries. Lee meets Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday. From Saturday to Sunday, Lee will attend a series of group summits at the Korea-ASEAN, ASEAN plus three -- Korea, Japan and China -- and the East Asia summits in Hua Hin, Thailand.
Lee "hopes to enhance cooperation with ASEAN countries, the axis of the new Asian diplomacy, at both the bilateral and multilateral level," a Cheong Wa Dae official said, "He plans to address issues such as cooperation to solve the North Korean nuclear issue, climate change, and developing strategies for sustainable environment-friendly growth."
