Thai black-clad soldiers from Battalion 962 based west of Ta Moan Thom temple (pictured) had twice threatened to seize the construction machinery from Cambodian Military Engineering Unit which is constructing a road leading to Ta Moan Thom temple.

According to the Cambodian military, the confrontation had been resolved after talks, but it said that the Thai military continues to monitor the activities of the road construction by taking pictures to make reports to their superior regarding the road construction by the Cambodian military.

Cambodian border police from unit 702 and military sources based in the border areas told Reaksmei Kampuchea on 7th September that seven heavily-armed Thai black-clad soldiers equipped with cameras, diary and GPS (global positioning system) from Battalion 962 twice on 7th September attempted to stop the Cambodian Engineering Unit from constructing the road up to Ta Moan Thom temple which is located on top of the Phnom Dangrek Mountains.

Cambodian military sources said that those Thai soldiers told them not to construct the road beyond Thmor Da point because they said the area from Thmor Da to Ta Moan Thom temple is a "disputed zone". However, a Cambodian military official said that the area where the road constructions take place is exclusively a Cambodian territory.

This is yet another sign that Thailand is not sincere in its border dealings with Cambodia. According to the 1908 map, Ta Moan Thom and Ta Krabey temple are located inside Cambodia. But now Cambodia can't even build a road inside its territory toward its own temple. It seems that these two temples have been controlled by Thai forces now.

They way Hun Sen is resolving the border issues with our neighbors would make Cambodia loses a lot of lands. In the case with Thailand, Cambodia has lost a lot and will continue to lose a lot because Hun Sen did not deploy enough troops to protect the borders but most of our elite troops are based at his Toul Krosaing Tiger Den.
