Green Field Cambodia Co. Ltd and Hashiya Co. Ltd of Japan signed an agreement on Tuesday at IOC that will see the export of Cambodian chopsticks to Japan, a Green Field Cambodia officer said.
Cambodian President of Parliament Council Chan Sophal and General Manager of Green Field Cambodia said at the signing ceremony that “In the past, we had discussed with Japanese companies to produce and export the chopsticks to Japan. Now we have made the agreement.” The deal is the first of its kind, he added. “I hope the plan will be a success.”
The chopsticks will be produced from bamboo, rubber trees, palm trees and acacias. The products will be export to Hashiya Co. Ltd.
Sophal expressed his thanks to Hashiya’s General Manager, who he said has cooperated well with Cambodia in exporting Cambodian chopsticks to Japan.
The General Manager of Hashiya Co. Ltd said that “previously we invested in the agricultural sector, but now we are going to invest in Cambodian chopsticks.”
Hashiya´s GM added that most Asians people choose to use chopsticks, especially in Japan.
Cambodia is seeking long term cooperation with Japan, he added.
Chan Sophal welcomed to all investments in Cambodia by Japanese companies.
