Ex-King Sihanouk lauded the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by Prime Minister Hun Sen and considers it as the "brother" of the Sangkum Reastr Niyum, a populist party he founded in 1955 that has monopolised Khmer politics for 15 years until he was deposed in a coup in 1970.

Speaking during a gift distributing ceremony to poor and invalid people in Siem Reap on 21st August, ex-King Sihanouk lauded the CPP leadership. He also spoke of his royal crusade to obtain independence from France which he had achieved in 1953.

He said his royal crusade started from Siem Reap, then moved to Kampong Thom in 1949 and then moved to Battambang in 1951-1952 and after he "liberated" those three provinces, France finally granted Cambodia full independence on 9th November 1953.

At the end of his speech, the ex-king said he considers the CPP as the "brother" of his Sangkum Reastr Niyum Party. He praised Senate President Chea Sim, National Assembly Heng Samrin and Prime Minister Hun Sen, who are current leaders of the CPP, for leading Cambodia to prosperity and developments in all sectors.

Father-King is under the feeding tube of Hun Sen's nurses, of course Songkum Reast Nyum was in relation to CPP. The loyal followers of the king can vote for CPP now because the king said so. The royal family is just there for dislay but powerless with Hun Sen. If Hun Sen said to sign these documents, the king will sign those documents. One time, Hun Sen was threaten to wipe out the royal family. Oh..yea. Hun Sen is a king of kings in Cambodia.
