Thai Minister of Interior said Thaksin travelled to Malaysia

Reported in English by Khmerization

The Thai Ministry of Interior has revealed reports that fugitive ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra (pictured) has travelled to Malaysia en route to the archipelago of Tiu Niue (spelling?) west of the island of Tonga.

Mr. Tavornn Sinniam, Deputy Minister of Interior, said Mr. Thaksin had indeed travelled to Malaysia. He said: "Ex-PM Thaksin has travelled to Malaysia on Saturday and left Malaysia on Sunday."

Despite the government's claims, the news is unconfirmed and the Malaysian government has been silent on the Thai allegation, but the police is now investigating the claims.

Mr. Thavorn said Mr. Thaksin left Malaysia before the Thai police is able to take measures against him. However, he is optimistic that the Thai police, the Thai Attorney General and the Thai Foreign Ministry will be able to bring him to Justice in Thailand in the near future.

Ex-PM Thaksin was ousted from power in a 2006 bloodless military coup and has faced numerous corription charges since then.
