Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has called critics of government's achievements as "unwise people" in a speech during the Fishery Conservation Day in Kampot on 1st July, reports Khmer Sthapana.

His speech was referring to those critics who criticsed his policies of donating buildings and schools to the community. He said: "These contemptible guys said the prime minister cannot do like that, where wherever he goes he donates a building here and a school there. They said that we must plan like this or like that. Your Excellency, what you said are right because you (derogatory term) are the cattle thieves and the rice thieves..."

Mr. Hun Sen said because of criticism from these "unwise people" that's why the voters keeping voting for him and his party. He sarcastically advises them to continue criticising him so he can continue to win another term in office.

Mr. Hun Sen had also blasted human rights advocates and opposition politicians for criticising him about the recent lawsuits and the lifting of two MPs' parliamentary immunity. He said: "Nowadays, I can almost compare these people to animals. Even animals they know who is their leader. And the dogs will wag their teir tails whenever they are given food. But these contemptible people, never!"

Mr. Hun Sen continued: "These unwise people are insane. If they fight against someone it is OK, but when someone fights back, they said we violate their rights, that we curtail their freedom. But when they said these things, they never think about themselves. Why do they think about their freedom, what about other people's freedom?"

In the same speech, Prime Minister Hun Sen also warned those companies that are pumping sands to exports to overseas to stop because their actions destroying the fish habitats and the environments.

I don't agree. In a democracy, criticism is very healthy and is an essential part of nation building. To call his critics as animals is very cheap indeed. In fact, Hun Sen himself should be called as "animal" because he behaved like an animal and treated people like animals..
