The family of Mr. Hang Chakra (pictured), the jailed editor of Khmer Machas Srok newspaper, has received $US1,100 in financial donations from Khmer overseas.
Khmer Machas Srok reported in its Thursday 16th July's edition that the monies are donated from Khmer expatriates living in Europe. Khmer Machas Srok also reported that $600 of the donations was given to Mr. Hang Chakra's family and another $500 was reserved for the support of the publications of Khmer Machas Srok which is also in dire need of financial supports.
Khmer Machas Srok reported that Mr. Lem Pichpisey, the exiled ex-reporter of Radio Free Asia who is now an editor of the online Free Preee Magazine and Mr. Yu Saravuth, the exiled ex-editor of Sralanh Khmer newspaper who are now living in Norway, had organised the collections of the donations.
